Regardless of your political affiliation and your political or personal views. Take a moment to stop and think about the importance of this day. Not for Barrack or for the Democratic party but for AMERICA. After all that we have achieved and not achieved this is still a major milestone in American History.Who would have imagined that we would live to see the day that America elected it's first African American president.
It is an amazing day for America.

The beginning of a whole new era in America and American History.
It has been amazing to hear the reactions to this momentious occassion. I love hearing the comments from the young people like a 19 yr old who called his father at 12 :30am and told his father that this day made him believe he could do anything.
It is comments like this that I think really show the hope that people have now.
What occurred on Tuesday in the United States will be remembered for centuries to come. The man that stood on that stage in Grant Park in Chicago delivered a speech that sent shockwaves of hope from Time Square to Portland, Paris to Tokyo. At sporting events in this country, entire stadiums stood and cheered when the news was announced.
When was the last time you can remember that occurring?

Melanie - Hooray for you! I titally agree with you! What a momentous day. And it meant a lot to us, being so far from home. We voted by absentee ballot, so we still felt a part of things. Uncle Steve held an all night election party at his university, and over 75 students - both American and British - came. They got the news about President Elect Obama at 4:30 a.m.!
We've heard from many British friends we've made that this gives them hope, for the US, and for the rest of the world.
